Below please find an overview of the team that will be caring for and developing your child.
My name is Rosie Shippam and I joined Building Blocks in April 2022. In February 2022 I qualified as a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner from the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education scheme and I have completed my Level 3 in Childcare and Education this year. I previously worked in a nursery for 18 months with children aged 3 months to 5 years of age. The room I worked in was for the under 2-year-olds, delivering the Early Years Foundation stage. I worked as a key carer and created good working partnerships with my parents. I enjoy working in partnership with my colleagues in a professional, warm and fun environment which will further develop the needs of the children. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and baking which are skills that can also be shared with the children.
My name is Alexandra Spence, and I started with Building Blocks in August 2022. I am a lovely, kind, hardworking individual. I previously worked as a Primary school Teacher in Zimbabwe for two years, qualified with a Diploma in Primary Education. I worked in a private nursery and primary school and taught children aged 6-9 years old and assisted in the nursery for children aged 3-5 years old. I then moved to the UK, where I was a nanny to three lovely girls aged 3, 6 and 9 years old. I helped with breakfast each morning and got the younger girl dressed, followed by school drop-off and collection. After school, I supported the girls with their extra-curricular activities. I have completed my Level 3 in Childcare and Education, and I thoroughly enjoyed obtaining new knowledge that I am able to put into practice alongside the children. In my spare time, I love exploring the UK as it has lots to offer: lovely walks in nature and in the city, and sightseeing all the landmarks.
My name is Madison and I joined Building Blocks in August 2023. I have recently gained a 2.1 BA degree in inclusive performance at the Chicken Shed Theatre Company. I have experience working with children aged 5 years of age to 14 years of age as a personal carer, supporting trips to the park, and reading stories. My role as a group leader supported children during rehearsals for shows at the University. At the University I learned lots of transferable skills which I am excited to share with the children and staff in the classroom environment. I am looking forward to bringing fresh new ideas to continue to support children with the aim of developing them to their full potential. In my spare time, I like to socialise with my friends.
My name is Katherine, and I joined Building Blocks in October 2024. I have previous experience working in childcare via agencies and knew I wanted to have a full-time career caring for children. I love how rewarding childcare is, by making a difference and supporting children to grow to be the best version of themselves! I’ve always loved caring for my nieces and nephews, so being at Building Blocks is lovely. It’s important to me to ensure that every child has the same amount of attention that they need to keep them happy and healthy… best part is making them smile. In my spare time, I love to go on long adventure walks or anything outdoors, sunshine and holidays are also what I love to look forward to. I’m a very artsy person and have been that way since I was tiny, many of my friends and family say I have a great hand at drawing anything in detail. My partner and I love a cinema date, as long as we have some popcorn, we are very happy. 😊
My name is Chloe, I joined Building Blocks in December 2024, and I have a passion for childcare. My previous experience was working as a private Nanny for children aged Birth to 16 years old. I love working with all age ranges as it requires different skill sets to support their individual needs. As a nanny, my job roles were to change nappies, meal times, bedtime, naps during the day, and playtime, which included going to the park with a scooter or a bike and swimming. One of my favourite activities is baking or cooking with the children; it’s fun, helps develop their cooking skills and encourages healthy eating from a young age. Seeing their little minds work with the activities is always my biggest joy! What is important to me is to create activities through play, creating happy memories for the children, which allows their minds to expand and learn through play. Having fun through play is such a big thing, as it brings out different emotions and thoughts through the activity for the children. In my spare time, I enjoy going for walks, I love woodlands and cabins, anything near lakes or water, spending time with my family and being out and about in nature with animals. Sunsets are something I enjoy the most! The views and taking in the beauty around you!
